REVIEW

I was over the moon to see that Okoko Cosmétiques has collaborated with Clean Beauty Box to introduce subscribers to two awesome products – the L’Elixir de Pureté and the Sublime Balm. I had previously purchased those two products and I use both regularly. I must confess that my favorite of the two is the Sublime Balm, because of its unique formulation. It is an exfoliating balm that envelops the skin in a layer of protection while sloughing off dead skin cells. The combination of these two products is not to be underestimated. These are easily integrated into an existing skincare routine either a few times a week or nightly as needed.

New Products

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again – Okoko is at the forefront of innovation in the green beauty game.  I love how Oyéta marries high-performing natural ingredients with the latest lab ingredients.

The latest launch is Beauté Majestique Gel to Milk Cleanser. This cleanser is the latest from the line and is even more remarkable than their previous Dragon’s Blood Cleanser. The texture of this cleanser is a rich cream that spreads easily. I apply the cleanser, massage it in for a minute or two and then use a konjac sponge to remove all of the product. I love how soft my skin feels after using this. While this is an exfoliating cleanser, it is very gentle and honestly is one of the richest and gentlest cleanser I’ve used. The characteristic aroma is pleasant and pairs well with the rest of the lineup of products.

Okoko now boasts not one but two mists. I love to use face mists in conjunction with serums to help the serums to absorb easily into the skin. The first mist is the Trésor Essence d’Été Summer Mist. This mist was designed to boost hydration thanks to the glycerin in the formula and protect against UV radiation with the addition of the ingredient Venuceane. Venuceane is the trademarked name of the ingredient that is derived from algae ferment that purportedly is a photo-activated antioxidant that protects against ultraviolet radiation to the skin. I’m definitely curious about this ingredient and will be doing more research on this! The second mist is the luxurious La Perle Enviro-Defense Hydrating Mist. This mist packs a serious punch with the addition of resveratrol, bakuchiol, lycopene and coenzyme Q10. I used up my sample of the mist rather quickly, but I am looking to replace it soon!

Community Mindset

What sets this brand apart and keeps me coming back for more is Oyéta’s commitment to education and community support. Oyéta designed a tool aimed to help consumers understand and decode ingredient labels, titled “How to Decode Your Cosmetics Labels,” which is available on her website here. She has also recently launched her Okoko’s House of Brands, which is a business mentorship program for skincare entrepreneurs. Sign me up!

New Additions

And in other news, Okoko Cosmétiques has celebrated its continued growth by opening a new, larger brick and mortar shop in Gastown, Vancouver.  As usual, I cannot wait to see what the future holds for this brand! To date, Okoko Cosmétiques is the recipient of 11 awards. The most recent award was was the “Made in Vancouver 2020 Beauty Awards” announced just recently.
